Back in St Augustine

Hello!!! I know what you are thinking,"long time, no hear". Sorry but we have been BUSY.We spent August and September up in Unicoi State Park as camphosts. For those not familar, Unicoi is a Georgia state park located in the NE MTS. A very beautiful place and had a great time. Everyone in the campground knew Bear, our puppy!!!

We arrived back in Florida and spent a week with friends in Orange park. From there, we went south to Marathon and met up with our friends Deb and Lew and former boaters and now rv'ers, Jan and Dave. Another memorable weekend in Paradise!!! The weather was perfect and water was green/blue!!! Why do great times pass so quickly???

We had been looking at a larger RV before we left for the Keys. Upon our return we bought a 36ft, Georgetown class A motorhome!!!! We are so happy with all the room!!!

We loved the smaller one but we outgrew it with the addition of the puppy, kennel, toys, etc. We took the new coach on its maiden voyage to New Smyrna Beach to see all our friends and catch up with all the latest news in that world. I will try to keep the blog going in a more timely manner.

UTAH 2010

HI EVERYONE!!! I just bought a new computer with windows 7 !!! Gone is VISTA!!!!!! I am so excited!!! I can now get into my blog again!

Utah is the most beautiful, breathtaking, state so far. The mountains are so spetacular!!!! The whole state is high mountains with high plateaus. When we are at 4500-7000ft., I have problems with breathing.

We started our Utah adventure at a small town off I-15 named Kannerrville. Using that as our base, we drove in the Jeep over steep mountains that still had snow on the ground!!! Thankfully, we didn't have to drive the RV over those roads. We visited Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon National Park. Both were beautiful and different. Like Grand Cayon, you are viewing the canyons from above. Zion Canyons are viewed from below!!! Bryce Canyon has natural sculptures called HUDOS. All three parks provide free shuttles from one view point to another.I took so many pictures!!

From Kannerrville, we headed north to Nephi, a small town on the way to Salt Lake City to spend

the night. We awoke in the am to a SNOW storm ,cold, and no electricity!!! This was on May 24th.!! After a few hours, the electric came on and the storm passed about 11am ,the sun came out and we had a beautiful, cold day. The next day, we headed north again, to Bountiful, 12 miles north of Salt Lake City. We were lucky to get one of two full hookup sites at the ELKS lodge.

Weather still cold. Wednesday we had a great dinner with Brent and Emily at there new home in Salt Lake City. Brent is the son of our good friends Candy and Mitch.

Thursday we drove up to ANTELOPE ISLAND. This is a 28 mile mountainous island in the Salt Lake. It is a refuge for antelope and bison . We saw one antelope but no bison, they were out grazing in the hills.

We did see Garr Ranch, settled in 1848 by Fielding Garr who was assigned by the Mormon Church to establish a ranch on the island for the church tithing herds. The ranch was continually inhabited until 1981. The ranch house ,built in 1849, is the oldest Anglo building in UTAH still standing on its original foundation.

We wanted to leave and head to Yellowstone but,you guessed it, SNOW!!! IN THE MOUNTAINS.

Hopefully, we can leave in the am. Guy can't wait to get out of the city area and the worlds worse drivers!!!

Arizona and Beyond

Hello everyone!!!! We had a wonderful time in Arizona. We started in Wilcox in the SE area. This is a very small western town with friendly people. We camped at the local Elks Lodge and walked into town. From there, we took a day trip down to Tombston e. Very interesting and commercial.Enjoyed seeing the historical buildings, OK corral, courthouse, and had a beer in the saloon owned by Doc Holiday's wife.
Next stop was Tucson where we spent 4 days. We went to the Deset Museum,Sagauro National Forrest. We met some people at the Elk's who were RVers and they wanted us to stay another week and go on a trip with them to a lake. That was not part of our itenerary!
From Tucson we went to Apachie Junction . That was a small town east of Phoenix, at the base of Superition Mountain. We then moved north of Phoenix and took a day trip to Carefree and Cave Creek. Both very upscale and beautiful.
Sedona was our net stop.We stayed at the Elk's Lodge with a million dollar view. Sedona is now very upscale but the views are spectacular. We stayed 4 days and met 3 other couples from Florida. We took a train ride on the Verde Canyon Railway. So Beautiful!!We also took a quicktrip up to Jerome,a town built on the side of a mountain. This was a mining town in the early 1900's and is now a artist haven at 6000ft elevation.
Williams was our next stop. Williams is a historical town 30miles west of Flagstaff. We went to the Grand Canyon on a day trip. We walked most 0f the North Rim. Very spectacular!!
Last stop in Arizona was Kingman, noted most for it's South West Museum and very nice people. We traveled from the SE corner of the state to the NE corner and really enjoyed all.I'll send pictures in another email.if MY COMPUTER WILL LET ME!!!
Next stop was Las Vegas!!! We stayed in our friend Joan's driveway. We stayed 6 days having a blast!! We did the tourist bit for one day on the strip. On Saterday we all went up to Charleston Mtn., elevation 7000+ ft.Had lunch ata a neat restaurant with magnificant views.

TEXAS AND NEW MEXICO

Hello everyone!!! Sorry its been so long since my last blog but we have been very busy. We left Louisiana on Friday, April 9th and started our trek across Texas.
We spent 2 days on the outskirts of Houston with a side trip down to Kemah, a small town on Galvaston Bay.
Next stop was San Antonio where we spent 3 rainy days. In between raindrops, we went to the Alamo and The Riverwalk. Had a great time! We then went north to the hill country and a small town called Boerne. Very pretty area but it rained for the two days we were there.
We then traveled to the Caverns of Sonora and their campground. This was high on a rocky hill--- very interesting landscapes. We didn't go in to the caverns but met a real nice couple from California. I guess that was the reason for us to drive way up there!! We've kept in touch ever since.
After 400+ miles of desert and high hills, we finally arrived in El Paso. We spent 3 nights there. The highlight of that stop was dinner at The Cattlemans Steak House. This is a working cattle ranch 5 miles into the desert. Many movies were shot there and one hall is full of movie memorabila. Another room has a collection of old western saddles. The entrance hall has historical pictures, several Frederick Remington sculptures. Out side is a zoo, a small lake, and all kinds of western things. The resturant has 4 large rooms, each one unique. The was food very good. While eating, several peacocks were at the window watching us eat.
On Tue., April 20th, we moved upto Alamogordo, New Mexico and stayed at an Elk's Lodge. They have 15 sites with full hookups. The mountains are just BEAUTIFUL!!! Once we were setup, we drove down to White Sands. That was unbelieveable!!!! The next day we went up to see the Three Rivers Petroglyphs.
These are rock paintings 600 - 1000 years old. Very interesting!!!!
From there, we drove up a mountain to Cloudcrof, elevation 8,650 ft and had a beer in a real west bar.
We next went to Las Cruces to wait for our mail and our new refrigerator door. Last Sunday, I opened the door and it fell on the floor!!!! A small piece of plastic broke and that was holding it in place!! While there we went to an old west town from 1856. MESSILLA is famous for convicting Billy The Kid for murder. It looks the same as it did in the old days. The next day the door arrived. Next we are headed west for Arizona!!!
